SECRETARY'S REPORT on NATIONAL FEDERATION SHOW held at Redhill Village Hall REDHILL Nr BRISTOL  on Saturday 11th DECEMBER 2010

The snow cleared for a few days and allowed members to travel to our Championship Show on Saturday 11th December, all be it on a bitterly cold day at Redhill Community Hall, just south of Bristol.

With representation from  Kent to North Wales, Yorkshire to Cornwall & East Midlands to Ireland, most areas of the country were represented at this, the most prestigious of flying breed shows.

The locals arrived early to set up the pens, with Pete Holland & Nigel Solly making an early start from Cornwall to help out too.

Despite a late change of venue, entries were once again very good, with an entry of 359 birds, with a few no-shows on the day due to illness & travel problems.

With some excellent birds on show, the judges once again had a very difficult task in sorting out the winners, and in the event the classes went to a wide spread of fanciers. (see results for full details)

In the WEFTs, the nine classes were split among seven fanciers, with Best in Show going to Keith McIntosh, with one of his team of excellent Silver bars, on this occasion, a cock. Best Opposite Sex to Pete Holland with a yellow hen & Best Young Bird to Barry Collins with a black cock.

Exhibition Tipplers were not so well represented this year, although again the birds on show were all top notch.  A clean sweep of awards to Roy Partington, with his team of Self Tipplers; Best was a Dun cock and Best Opposite Sex & Best Young Bird, both Blacks. Roy has worked on developing the quality of the Black Tipplers over the past four years and this season has shown dividends with success at several Championship shows.

The Roller classes went to Andy Hopson with a White hen, which again has had previous success this season, and Best in the Competition classes went to Keith McIntosh (kept those quiet Keith !!).

The Competition Tippler classes were split between Terry Little & Roy Bennett.

As always, there were unsung heroes, with Terry Little & Nigel Solly keeping us fed & watered all day, Harry Balchin running the raffle  & Dave Walters helping Roy with the admin.

Another excellent show enjoyed by all.

Hope to see you all again next year ( plus a few more!) at another new venue, likely to be the Doncaster Dome in November (watch this space).
