SECRETARY'S REPORT on NATIONAL FEDERATION SHOW held at NEWCATLE–under-LYME on Sunday 9^th DECEMBER 2007

I must admit as show day was approaching I felt a little nostalgic as this was going to be my last show as Secretary to The Federation – A step I have decided to take to let someone with fresh ideas take over and push The Federation in the right direction. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has made my job as Secretary/Treasurer run smoothly (although perhaps some wouldn’t think so) – I am not going to list anyone because I would be sure to miss someone out and that wouldn’t be a nice thing to do and in any case I haven’t got enough space but you all know who you are so many thanks.

To the show – The weather forecast was enough to make everyone stay in bed with heavy rain and gales promised but except for one case of Flu everyone was there and thankfully the weather although bad was nothing like as promised. It was nice to see a few of the lads from Ireland and I believe everyone had a good day, below is a full set of results but special mention must go to Nigel with his beautiful Grizzle hen Exhibition Tippler a bird that deservedly beat me the week before as best bird at Bideford and South West Championship show. Thank goodness we don’t do a Best bird in show at the Federation otherwise I would probably have been struggling again but Nigel won Best Exhibition Tippler with his hen and I took Best West of England with my Andalusion Cock perhaps a fitting end to my rein as Secretary. Not wanting to forget the Flying Tippler I would like to congratulate Roy Bennett on his success.

We had a long AGM to discuss the new appointments and other items and the full minutes will be sent out to all members in the New Year along with my final treasurer’s report. Roy Partington was voted in as new Secretary and Treasurer and I am sure all the members will give him the support needed to keep The Federation where it is at the top. Pete Holland was voted in as President and because there was no other takers I reluctantly have agreed to be Chairman although I would of liked to have given others a chance to shine through. The other major item that came from the meeting after a lengthy and sometimes heated but friendly debate was to revert back to the classification which we had previously of Colour and markings rather than colour only.

Breeding season is probably foremost in a lot of fancier’s minds so I would again take this opportunity of wishing everyone a successful breeding season breeding loads of potential champions.
