Show Results 2005 - 2006

October the 1^st seemed a long way off when I booked the minibus back in July even further when Nick and I arranged to have the Summer/Autumn show at Eccleshill Bradford last February – But as they say time waits for no man and it arrived. This time no hitch with the transit and everyone was on time so off we set and on the way picked up two waifs and strays (Keith McIntosh and John Plant). Arriving around 10 o’clock everything was set up so we off loaded the birds and got the show under way. As Roy Partington had again offered to act as Secretary for the day it gave me chance to mingle and have a chat with a few of the fanciers non least Norman Murphy who had made the effort to come over from Ireland bringing his loft I think and his charming wife Tina. Sadly Norman’s sailing times were altered so he had to set off early but not before his Dun had gone up to be judged for Best in Show – Sadly he missed out on that one but was over the moon to receive three red cards and a Federation Certificate with birds that he had bred himself. The numbers were less than expected but with the very heavy late moult and Newcastle holding a club show on the same day. Nevertheless we had 250 birds and the quality was excellent. The Rollers and Tipplers were not as well supported as expected but Trevor Mason and Henry & Sue Burke enjoyed themselves and went away with a bag of corn each for winning Best Roller and Best Tippler respectfully. Best West went to Nick Jackson with his very well presented Spangle – Congratulations Nick and thanks to both you and Dean Hargreaves for your efforts in putting on the food – I never heard any complaints. Just to round off I would like to thank George Anderson and his team for having the hall ready for us – An excellent job George and thanks for agreeing to present the trophies. Last but not least thanks to everyone that supported the show and made it a most enjoyable day for all who attended One down and one to go, look forward to seeing you all around the pens and if you can make it to Pucklechurch for the main show.
