New Flying Breed Club
Some of you will have noticed that I have been trying to secure show pens (see advert on this page). This I have now successfully done (but would like more) which now enables me to form a new Flying Breed Club ‘Staffordshire Tippler, Tumbler and Roller Club’ and put on a show which will be held at a school hall in Newcastle Under Lyme which is only minutes off junction 15 M6. Anyone wishing to become a member please contact me.
It will be run as a non-profit making club, once all the monies outlaid for the show pens have been repaid, so once the club is in profit any money made will be paid out in prize money at the following year's show.
The show will be held on Sunday 29th October and I am busy trying to sort out prize cards and trophies for the show (any help would be more than welcome). But the club will be affiliated to the National Federation and Federation Challenge Certificates will be awarded. I have requested that the Federation honour the club with the same facility as with other designated Flying Breed Clubs which means that fully paid up members of the Federation will also be awarded ‘ Best of Breed’ Certificates which along with the challenge certificates go towards making a Champion and Supreme Champion pigeon. I have been told that this will be looked on favourably and discussed at a Committee Meeting to be held on 1st July.
The West classes will be slightly different to normal in as far as the colour goes – I have for a long time been concerned as to which classes certain colours go in like Strawberry Mealies showing bars do they go in a bar class or a red class. Also when is a bar not a bar in other words when is it a chequer, should blue chequers really be in the AOC class, when does a blue chequer become a black chequer and so on. The classes I am proposing for the show are as follows. I do not know why Patterns are mixed with colour causing the confusion so I will be sticking to Colour only classes as follows:-
REDS – This will include Self’s, Chequers, Strawberry’s, Strawberry Mealies and Mealy Bars etc.
YELLOWS – This will include Self’s Chequers, Yellow Strawberry’s and Cream Bars etc
BLUE / BLACK – This will include Black Self, Black Chequers, Blue Chequers, Pencil Blues and Blue Bars etc
SILVER / DUN - This will include Dun Self, Dun Chequers, Silver Chequers, Pencil Silvers and Silver Bars etc,
SPANGLES – All colour Spangles – please remember a spangle pigeon is a bird carrying only two colours (one being white) disbursed unevenly across the bird. Therefore any bird carrying three colours should be entered in the AOC class. Spangle colours include Red, Yellow, Black, Dun, Chocolate, Khaki and the fairly new Indigo.
AOC – Any colour bird not mentioned above to include (at the moment) Chocolate and Khaki in Self’s, Chequers and Bars, Indigo’s Andalusion in it’s various forms, Tri Colour birds etc.
If anyone has any comment on the above please fell free to contact me either through the Federation Site or direct on my email which is johnplant_1@msn.com
This means a lot to me and my way of putting back into the hobby a contribution to keep pigeons to the forefront but it will only succeed with your help.
I would like to thank Andy Lowe, Basil Moran and Dave Walters for their help in securing the show pens.
