Thanks Dave. I am certain this is genetic for these reasons: Most of my birds have the khaki gene, the original Khakis were bred by JJ from brooker bloodline tippler x west, Jones & Balchin birds also exhibit this fault (or did in 2006) and Keith Robson has seen this fault in one or more of Mel's tipplers. Also the fault is always present in the nest feather, and when I first bred this fault I did not eliminate the breeders and the following year they bred the fault again. I do not believe it to be sex linked as if it were and is recessive would all of the birds showing the fault not be cocks? (Have bred both) Anyway, at least the fault can be looked for by others (if anyone reads this) and if anyone wants my advice, be ruthless and eliminate no matter how good the bird is. I have eliminated some fanatstic pigeons in the last few years, and beleieve me, even outcrossing with a bird from someone else, it just keeps coming up in the youngsters. At its worst I think I bred 10-15 a year of these from about 40 youngsters. This year from 55 youngsters I have eliminated 4, so it can be suppressed by being ruthless.
